What is the Background Process Killer?

The Background Process Killer is a server monitor that watches for certain programs running under a user account that poses a security risk. When found, it kills it and notifies the admins. Some malicious users try changing the name of the executable to try and hide it, but the server will analyze the code and find it. Programs it searches for are (but not limited to):
  • BitchX
  • bnc
  • eggdrop
  • generic-sniffers
  • guardservices
  • ircd
  • psyBNC
  • ptlink
  • what is, support
